What is oc kaligis?

Oc Kaligis is a prominent lawyer and politician in Indonesia. He was born on February 7, 1947, in Sorong, West Papua, Indonesia, and he studied law at the University of Indonesia. He began his career as a lawyer in 1975, practicing in Jakarta. He gained popularity in the 1990s as the defense attorney for several high-profile corruption cases.

In politics, Kaligis was a member of the Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI) in the 1980s and became a member of the House of Representatives in 1992. He left the PDI in 1996 and joined the United Development Party (PPP), where he served as the Secretary-General from 2002 until 2003.

In 2009, Kaligis was arrested on charges of corruption in relation to the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) scandal. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2014, but he was released in 2018 after serving only five years due to good behavior.

Kaligis has written several books, including "Kasus Hukum: Catatan Pengacara Membela Koruptor" (Legal Cases: Notes of the Lawyer Defending Corruptors) and "Bersaksi di Depan Hakim" (Testifying in Front of the Judge). He continues to be a controversial figure in Indonesian politics and law.
